I’m tagging all of my notes as "PinkieD’s Frozen Adeventure" is anyone is interested in following along. I’ll be talking about each of the bullet points in the link in more depth, starting with the first one today.
Anna and Kristoff as siblings
I personally thought that Kristoff and Sven were fine as characters. They were likable and the deer disappeared off screen long enough, for me, to not find him annoying. However I did find it creepy that Kristoff started falling for Anna, especially after the Troll scene.
To me they gelled while as friends but what really creeped me out a little was the fact that they bantered like siblings. They sounded a kit like my sister and I,so it was weird to see them falling in love.
So I was thinking, Anna shouldn’t be Elsa’s sister. She should be Kristoff’s. They had more familial chemistry together to me.
I don’t mean to say that Elsa should have been alone, but I do think that the movie could focus better on HER if she was an only child. As I said before, it’s Elsa’s story but Anna’s movie and that’s just not right.
My idea was that Elsa befriends the two after she runs away from the castle. Their purpose would be to have humans react to her powers. Anna would be elated and Kristoff a little cautious, you know?
I was also thinking about gender representation and toying with the idea of having Masculine, Feminine, and Androgynous leads. With Elsa being the feminine, Kristoff masculine, and Anna as very ambiguous. Her name’s Anna but she (I’m using female pronouns just because) appears neither/both male or female. I don’t know. I thought it would be a fun design challenge.
The point of this change is, besides the fact that i find Kristoff and Anna work better as family, I want Elsa to get more attention from the plot. Making her the only princess in the story does that for me. Not only that, we would also have the first Disney Princess being crowned Queen on screen. On top of that I think Elsa would be the first Disney Queen who wasn’t evil.
It’s miserable and raining outside and if someone can make me a picture of bubbline making out that would be mighty fine
Is it weird that I can see them as a couple as girls, but in their sex-switched form I can only see them as friends? >8T
I’m back! Okay so this is what I wrote at work. It’s on sticky notes so the wording is choppy. I’ll go into each bullet point in detail in later posts as I move along.
- Anna and Kristoff siblings?
- Elsa learns to love herself by herself
- Nix the trolls? Redesign the trolls?
- Hans is not evil but misguided?
- Nix the Wesleton nerds
- Olaf sticks with Elsa
- Stretch story out to a week at least instead of two days?
- How does Elsa learn love for herself? Think about it. Major theme.
- Validation helps self worth, yeah?
- Sven should act like a deer and not a dog
- Hans and Elsa childhood friends?
- Hans female? Kristoff should be female?
- Toxic “friendships.” Elsa learns to cut out the bad from her life.
- Conflict? Eternal Winter caused and causing Fear
Speaking of work, I wrote some stuff for some slight or major alterations to “Frozen.”
I want to make it clear I that this is coming from someone who actually liked the movie a lot. At first I thought, if I liked it so much why am I drilling it so hard? If I’m going to be critical of the movie, I should be ashamed that I like it.
Then I thought about that some more and I was like, “Yo me. I can like something and be critical of it. That’s where AUs come from and what fans do. And yo me, I can like what I want you megadork.”
So yeah! I like the movie! I had fun watching it and laughing. That doesn’t mean I’m not aware that I was laughing AT the movie and not WITH the movie at times.
So, I’m going to shower super fast, come back, and post my notes as I wrote them and start brainstorming some junk for an new plot for the movie.
I kind of want to keep most of the cast, even if it’s pretty male centered. I kind of want to do an experiment to see if I can work with what I got. Some genders may change but essentially I’m trying to keep all the characters that served a major role in the story.
I should make a daily comic about my adventures at work. When you have a heart attack daily over people buying 4 items for $350, that is a story worth telling… 8’3
I’m just sitting here and instead of getting ready for work I’m thinking about “Frozen.”
I actually like the movie a lot. I laughed through out the whole thing.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t think it could be way better. Especially when the balance of comedy to the drama was disproportionate. It was actually… too funny!?!
My bud Yamyams, my sister, and I saw it on Friday. I couldn’t wait anymore. My sister felt meh about the story. She said that Elsa was her HANDS-DOWN favorite character though.
Yami (yamyams) thought the whole movie was rushed. I have to agree with her. The story felt rushed big time. That’s actually a problem with all of Disney’s latest movies. Tangled, Brave, and Princess and the Frog felt uber rushed to me, just like Frozen.
Overall we laughed at Olaf and Kristoff more than we were paying attention to the sisters. And I think Kirstoff isn’t exactly the best character in the movie, I think he could be saved with a little tweaking. I think that he and Elsa should have formed a friendship, instead of his romantic relationship with Anna.
Anna felt unneeded to me more than anyone else in the movie. Why was she there outside of having this quirky, sheltered girl to laugh at as the plot moved forward. I wasn’t rooting for her really. I was laughing at her and how dumb she acted at times because her sheltered life has made her ridiculously reckless and short-sighted.
But no! Really. I like the idea of Elsa connect to someone in her kingdom and actaully having a friend that isn’t made of snow. Olaf loves her but he was kind of built to love everyone and everything. I don’t entirely know how the movie should be but I think that it would have benefited… with actaully making the main character… THE MAIN CHARACTER. Cause… it’s Elsa’s story… but it’s Anna’s movie?
